Staff is very friendly , they make a effort to communicate despite language difference. I highly recommend their whole chicken with fries . they have an amazing house made hot sauce and barbecue Sauce. Only critiqué i can give is that its a bit difficult to find parking because of the location but the quality of the food does make up for it .

This restaurant still amazing giving us so fresh and so delicious in anything on the menu. I'm recommended for you all people try to eat anything from appetizer to the end dessert and wonderful coffee. Very large PORTIONS. The price is soo just right. The best part is Beautiful sitting on Tables and chairs[ after the coronavirus] Every night the workers clean so spotless so clean. The city government gave them capital [A] I'm very very fuzzy and observant eater.

Huge portion sizes. A 1-person portion easily feeds two. The quality is very good too. This is my favorite "simple to-go" BBQ place in Newark. For under $15 you can grab a sizable container of chicken picadinho w/ two sides. This usually covers lunch and dinner for me Use their hot sauce sparingly as it is no joke

They are in a new location across the street. Plenty of tables now. Food is amazing. On top of their regular menu they have daily specials. I love their combos because you get so much food, even with a group you might have leftovers. They are also accommodating, I wanted something since I don't eat rice and potatoes so they make me sautéed veggies.

Listen, there are many legendary Brazilian barbecue places in Newark. Newark is home to places like Pulaski's and such. My personal opinion is Market Barbecue is the best. Even if it is by a little bit, I will still go here first. If you are in the mood for some barbecue at a great price with over-the-top portions, please give this off-Ferry Street place a try. We tried the combination platter which was great. had great portions of pork, shrimp, chorizo, vegetables, rice, and home fries to die for. Just try this place, ok?

I love me some chicken rice, and this review has been at least 10 years late. I can't even remember how I found out about this place, that's how long ago it's been. The food has been consistent from day 1. And If I'd be stuck in some island for the rest of my life and I can pick only one thing to eat everyday, then no doubt the chicken, rice and salad from this place will be it. I just LOVE this place so much and I make a trip here almost every weekend from Jersey City. If you're not familiar with the area, you might feel unsafe. But trust me, you'll be fine. It's in the safe part of Newark (though it may not seem like it) as it is within the Iroundbound district area. Though I recommend to drive with another person only because the parking situation is tricky. If you can have your friend waited for you outside while you pick up the food, then it's ideal. But I've been there myself as well and you can leave your illegally park next to the restaurant, that works too. My go to dish 99% of the time would be the whole chicken and salad. And I always make sure to ask for the hot sauce which I discovered only recently and it's as spicy as it gets. For $13 it's a bang for you buck. In addition to whole chicken and salad, it also comes with so much rice and fries. Though I always skip the latter two. I've also tried their other dishes, and my distant favorite would be the grilled salmon. They give me so much food, I wonder how they even make profit. We can never finish everything in one seating, there's always some leftover for the next day and sometimes even the next day, that's how much good stuff they give you. The best part is the chicken gets only better the next day! Everyone is so friendly here. The owners are always there when I go. They're so hardworking and friendly. Hope this place will be around forever and ever. I won't know where else to go!

There is a battle of the rotisserie chicken places in this area and, while we haven't tried all of these joints yet, Market BBQ seems to be better than the 3 we have tried so far (Ferry St BBQ, McWhorters, Elm St BBQ). Their chicken is never dry and has a nice smoky, lightly charred flavor to it. Their rice is seasoned well and their black beans are always on point. Their fries are always soggy and sometimes bland but I can easily overlook that as everything else is consistently good. Their salad is simple, greens, onions and tomatoes w/olive oil & vinegar, but it is always fresh and is a good way to cut through the chicken grease you will be covered in. We pick up there regularly and the ladies there are always nice. So glad to have this place near me.
